And, for those design wannabes, SAE Institute will be running a 'Photoshop in a Day' course, giving you the low-down on how to crop, colour and manipulate images. Students will get an overview of Adobe Photoshop CS3, the industry's most valuable software, using practical work to demonstrate the main functions of the package. DJ legend and producer Fletcher Beadon (aka DJ Dope) to teach Short Courses at SAE Institute.

SAE Fletcher BeadonFletcher is one of Cape Town's pioneering DJ's and producers. His vast range of musical styles and deep love of music have been winning him fans since he first turned to the turntables in 1995. Very few DJ's play as a broad range of genres; you're just as likely to hear him dropping the cutting edge of dubstep, breaks or drum n bass as playing his gran's collection of swing jazz, funk and calypso.

This passion for music has taken him all over the world, from outdoor parties in Zambia and Malawi to festivals and clubs all over Europe. Over the years he has privilege of playing alongside many of music heroes: including Goldie, Massive Attack, The Freestylers, General Midi, Krafty Kuts, Seeed, Dj Vadim, to name a few.

Fletcher's love of technology ensures that he is at the cutting edge of dj'ing trends, starting with the very first version of Final Scratch in 2001. Native Instruments’ Traktor Scratch currently sponsors Fletcher. Scratch is software that allows hot off-the-press studio productions to be mixed on vinyl later that evening. He also continues to experiment with the Audio Visual medium and is currently work on a set of live multimedia to drop this summer.

Fletcher will teach the Digital DJ short course and parts of the Electronic Music Production course commencing this October at SAE Institute in Cape Town.

SAE Institute Cape Town invites you to join our SAE Industry Sessions

SAE Industry SessionsCalling all animators and audiophiles! SAE Institute is hosting a series of inspired industry sessions for those interested in the fields of animation, creative media and audio engineering. Whether you're an animation aficionado, a dynamic bedroom DJ or an amateur enthusiast, the SAE Industry Sessions should provide creative food for thought and an educational debate around contemporary issues in both these fields.

Boasting an eclectic mix of industry speakers, the sessions will cover topics around audio technology, animation and creative media trends. Audio speakers include DJ Ready D, Jeremy de Tolly frontman of The Dirty Skirts and Dan Manojlovic (Audio Boutique) and the animation line-up comprises Triggerfish's Anthony Silverston, Multimedia Producer and agency owner Steven Mewissen from GSDH, Animator Donovan Cook and many others.

SAE Institute hosts its first Open Day in South Africa

Open Day at SAE Cape TownOver 60 people attended this historic event at the SAE Cape Town Campus in Central Business District. The crowd comprised of invitees, enquirers, industry bigwigs and interested onlookers.

The great feedback provides that the demand for specialised media and creative technology training programs is on the rise in the region.

The field of Audio Engineering attracted the greatest interest. On display at the Open Day were student projects from SAE graduates as well as the newly designed and equipped teaching facilities, computer labs and studio areas.

SAE to Open New European Degree Centre in Oxford

OxfordSAE is set to open the world's biggest technology school alongside the very best seats of learning in the UK. Not only will the new Oxford campus be the largest SAE Institute to date - more than 8,500 square meters - it is also set to become a significant degree centre for the SAE european operations, the flagship school amongst the 50 SAE Institutes that already exist on five continents.

It will also be the fourth UK SAE. This is a completely new dimension for SAE and a milestone in its history of more than 30 years of providing creative technology education. Based in Littlemore, Oxford, the new campus will offer state of the art practical facilities for our students.
